Consumption of resources is a huge problem in today’s society as it can destroy the quality of the environment that surrounds us on a worldwide scale if not handled appropriately. It is a necessity for humans to use resources and services, but it is important to use them in limits. Sustainability is a key factor when it comes to this as overuse of resources can have serious detrimental effects (Grunert 2006). The limiting of the use of goods and services is an important factor so future generations have enough resources to prosper. Consumption can occur at the individual level and at a worldwide scale as we are all consumers in some way. Consumption is a key factor in fast food industries. In certain neighborhoods consumption of fast food is vastly greater than others and can have growing negative effects, especially in the United States. Over consumption can lead to things like obesity and other illnesses that can be detrimental to these targeted neighborhoods.
